After you have completed a fused glass class with us, you are eligible to enroll in this class to be able to pursue some ideas of your own while still having a professional instructor available to oversee, assist, answer questions, offer advice, and perform kiln firings. Students will be empowered to work independently using all fused glass techniques possible with the available materials and tools. There are no lesson plans except your own – come to refine your skills and be inspired by other fused glass artisans!

Prerequisite: Fused Glass Fundamentals

You’ll love this class if you:

  • Can cut/break glass independently
  • Can bend glass independently
  • Can perform fused glass techniques independently
  • Can perform grinding with a lap grinder independently
  • Can safely use the masonry saw when needed
  • Can work with the instructor on your kiln firing set up of molds or forms and kiln firing schedule
  • Can finish fused glass pieces independently

In this class you’ll have the opportunity to use the following equipment and materials:

  • Fusible glass (some clear glass and frit included, variety of additional glass available for purchase)
  • Frit and stringer variety
  • Glass cutting and breaking tools
  • Grinding tools and masonry saw
  • Diamond finishing pads
  • Acetylene/air torch
  • Fiber paper
  • Gram scale
  • Draping, slumping, drop out forms and molds
