Are you feeling ready to advance your small-metal fabrication and jewelry making skills? Explore complex design approaches and metal construction techniques with accomplished Jewelry & Metals Instructors! The focus of this intermediate-advanced level class is to elevate your work to the next degree. In addition to honing your skills from the prerequisite class, students will practice achieving the marriage of a metal ring, creating a bezel set pendant, and fashioning a pair of textured earrings!

Prerequisite: Jewelry Fundamentals

You’ll love this class if you want to learn techniques for:

  • Safely operating an acetylene/air torch
  • Texturizing metal by hammering and stamping
  • Creating rivets
  • Basic ring making and sizing
  • Basic stone setting, such as bezel setting
  • Bending wire for earrings
  • Soldering joints (t-joint, butt joint, sweat joint)
  • Creating jump rings and bales
  • Cold connections
  • Finishing techniques, such as filing and sanding, polishing, patinas

In this class you’ll have the opportunity to use the following equipment and materials:

  • Selected metals
  • Acetylene/air torch
  • Variety of standard bench jeweler’s studio tools
  • Burnishers, polishing wheels
  • Hammers, mallets, mandrels
