Morning: PATIENT FIRST, WHAT ABOUT ME?: Self-care strategies to slay workplace burnout Self-care is as important as oxygen. While companies are working hard to stay competitive in today’s fast-paced, overstressed world, many employees are burned out, stressed out, and maxed-out. This results in low employee morale, and decreased performance - the opposite of what a thriving, successful business wants. Dental professionals who care for the health and well-being of others are especially susceptible to burnout. We often place ourselves at the bottom of the list when it comes to self-care. Everyone else’s needs come before our own; both at work and at home. In addition, the adage of “patient first” has unintentionally created an environment in health care that places the practitioner last. It makes no sense and often leads to personal and professional burn-out. What if we spin this practice on its head?

Afternoon: MARTINIS, MILLENIALS, MOTHERHOOD & MENOPAUSE: Considerations in women's health. With over 50% of dentists graduating female and over 80% of dental assistants and hygienists being female, our industry needs a clear focus on women’s health. Women have health considerations unique to their gender and hormonal make-up. According to the US Census, there are over 126 million women in the U.S. today. As our population ages, women will outnumber men two-to-one. How do we best care for ourselves and our patients in this growing reality?
