The AR-15 Armorer Course is a comprehensive two-day class with Day 1 covering firearm history and development, safety, cycle of operation, troubleshooting, components and field stripping, and preventative maintenance. Day 2 continues with advanced troubleshooting piston and gas guns, disassembly and reassembly, and wear component measurement and gauging.

Course content is based on the original manufacturer specifications and firearm technical data package as well as US military manuals, and guidelines. This class will provide the skills necessary to perform armorer inspection for wear, as well as diagnose and mitigate more complex malfunctions of gas and piston driven AR-15 style rifles. This will include thorough measurement and gauging of wear components to evaluate dimensional tolerance as an overall annual “wellness check” of the rifle and to identify and resolve potential failures before they occur.

While this is not intended as an assembler/ builder class, this course will cover many of these topics. Participants will be able to perform these skills on their own rifle and the instructor will inform participants when to bring these into the lab.

All tools, equipment, and training manuals will be supplied. We prefer participants bring their own rifle for this class to get familiar with it, and this permits a thorough inspection and cleaning of your rifle. We can make rifles available for those needing one with prior arrangements.

Course taught by an NRA instructor who operates a Wisconsin based FFL 07/02 shop.

If you would like your agency to be invoiced after the training is complete, email rob.hock@nwtc.edu with each attendee's name, email address and date of birth and we will get them registered for the class.
