According to an April 2022 news release from OSHA, food production workers in Wisconsin experience a nearly 24% higher injury rate than workers in other manufacturing production facilities in the state. As a result of these preventable injuries, OSHA launched a Local Emphasis Program (LEP) seeking to improve compliance with required food manufacturing safety procedures. Industries covered included fruit and vegetable persevering and specialty food manufacturers, dairy product manufacturers, and animal slaughtering and processing manufacturers. Employers and employees are invited to join this class to review and correct processes involving:

  • Machine Guarding
  • Control of Hazardous Energy
  • Other hazards including but not limited to hazardous chemicals, process safety management, powered industrial vehicles, noise and personal protective equipment
