This 16-hour SFST Instructor Course prepares law enforcement professionals to effectively administer and teach the Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated (OMVWI)/Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) training program. Emphasizes techniques that support active learning, various learning preferences and needs, and continuous improvement in teaching /learning. Successful students will become LESB Certified SFST Instructors.

Prospective SFST Instructors must have completed 32-hr CJ-IDC course, be a certified officer with at least 3 years of experience and have passed SFST training (NHTSA curriculum w/2 volunteer drinking subject practice sessions/workshops were administered HGN, WAT, & 1-leg-stand); AND continued proficiency in enforcement operations or alcohol workshops since training.

Instructions:

  1. Register online.
  2. Login to ACADIS and click on “Email my Professional History Report.” Copy and paste the following address into the field: publicsafety.corporatetraining@nwtc.edu
  3. Download LESB DJ-LE 336/Topic Specific Instructor Training Course Application and LESB-DJ-LE-310/Student Authorization for Release of Information at https://www.nwtc.edu/business-and-industry/public-safety-training/public-safety-training-forms-and-resources and send completed DJ-LE-336 and DJ-LE-310 to sue.lemerond@nwtc.edu at least two weeks prior to the class.
  4. Confirmation to attend training will be made once the documents have been received by NWTC.

If you would like your agency to be invoiced after the training is complete, email rob.hock@nwtc.edu with each attendee's name, email address and date of birth and we will get them registered for the class.
