Developed by Prosci, the ADKAR model guides thousands of organizations through complex, and even simple, changes. Focused on the end user, ADKAR helps the practitioner create Awareness, increase Desire, build Knowledge, train the Ability, and continually Reinforce the behaviors that the change itself requires to be successful. In this session, we will use a fictional change example to show how the model works, as well as to creating a quality communication plan that could determine the success or failure in this fictional project. Whether you are helping to plan your team's holiday party, onboarding a new employee, or leading a cross-functional project team, accurately assessing the who, what, when, why, and how of communication creates order and clarity where there could otherwise be chaos.
Objectives:
- Define the acronym of ADKAR
- Explore methods to achieve each element of the model
- Given a Case Study, create a communication plan, employing ADKAR methodology, for a fictitious change in an organization
- Determine the key stakeholders of any project
- Identify the proper senders and communication vehicles for your message
- Discuss where communication plans often go awry
