In this course, you'll learn the essential techniques for obtaining and analyzing social media data. With the widespread use of social media platforms, many criminal cases involve social media in some capacity. This course covers unique methods for determining the data collected and maintained by social media entities and how to draft warrants and court orders to obtain it. You'll learn to identify and preserve all relevant data and analyze it to discover all available evidence, using real-world case data as examples. These processes are not limited to social media cases and can be applied to other types of cases that involve seeking data from a third-party entity. This course is a must for new investigators and patrol officers who conduct patrol-based investigations. A laptop computer is essential for this course as attendees will be working through several types of case downloads.
