Participants are provided with general awareness about recognizing and preventing hazards commonly found in the workplace. Participants will explore OSHA standards that govern the construction industry, how to read and use the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), and compliance programs and procedures required in a construction work environment. Upon successful completion of the course, attendees will receive an OSHA 10-hour construction safety card and NWTC certificate.
The mandatory topics reviewed will be:
- Introduction to OSHA
- OSHA Focus Four Hazards (falls, electrocution, struck-by, caught-in or between)
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Health Hazards in Construction
Other topics discussed but not limited to are cranes, derricks, hoists, elevators, and conveyors, excavations, materials handling, storage use and disposal, scaffolds, stairways and ladders and tools – hand and power.
This course has been approved by the DSPS as 1 Continuing Education Hour for the following credentials:
