Officers make thousands of traffic stops each year having contact with individuals for brief periods of time. During that time officers must have a clear understanding of not just alcohol impairment but also drug impairment. However, there are over 26,000 diseases known to mankind many of which can cause impairment.

This course is designed for patrol officers interested in becoming DRE’s and current Drug Recognition Experts. It will take the basic physiology course provided in the DRE school and expand upon it giving a breakdown of the eleven major systems of the body. Officers will have a better understanding in determining if the impairment observed by a subject in a traffic stop or crash is caused by a medical condition or from substance abuse. This course will provide you with valuable tools to help you in navigating these murky waters and not make a critical mistake

If you would like your agency to be invoiced after the training is complete, email rob.hock@nwtc.edu with each attendee's name, email address and date of birth and we will get them registered for the class.
